Using Department HP Color Scanner to
scan documents
You can make use of
the HP Color Scanner on the third floor of SR-1, to scan documents; this makes
it easy to do volume scanning in color. Perform the following steps to first
scan the documents
- On the LCD Panel select the “Folder”
Icon.
- Select “Geosc
Scanner” on the LCD (towards the left).
- Now you have to select the output
settings and the input settings, if you are happy with the following
output settings,
- 200 DPI
- Color Scan output
- Output as PDF
Then
proceed to the next step (for most folks this is optimal) or else, select “Folder Settings”
first to change either the input settings or output settings, “Describe original”
lets you change the orientation, size of the page, number of sides etc, and “folder
settings” lets you change the output type (B/W or color), enhance sharpness,
change the output file type, file size etc.
- Select “Filename” and give it a name
using the keyboard on the LCD and then press “ok”
- Place the pages to be scanned either on
the flat glass bed or the feeder
(If you have multiple pages), make sure you put the correct orientation.
- Press “Start”
- The scanning process starts and
completes, after which the data is sent to the remote folder indicated by
the blinking “Data” light on the left side of the LCD Panel. It is best to
wait till it stops before you leave or start another scan job.
- The scanned data can be accessed at the
\\geoscdom\scanner folder, look
for your file name (usual location as the sharp
scanner/copier). For office staff this folder is already available as a
network drive, and for student’s, logon to one of the computers in the lab
and type in
\\geoscdom\scanner in the address
section of an explorer window to pull up the scanner folder.
- Remember to delete the file from the
folder after you copy it to your preferred location.
