Accessing files in your PC account from a MAC running OS X É

 

If for some reason you need to access your PC account files from a MAC or access the ÒshareÓ folder used for sharing files within the Geosciences department or

 

 

  1. Select ÒGoÓ and ÒConnect to ServerÓ
  2. In the address section type in

á        smb://geoscdom.geosc.uh.edu/your_userid_on_the_pc_network(if you want to access your files on the PC network)

á        smb://geoscdom.geosc.uh.edu/share(if you want to access the share folder)

á        smb://geoscdom.geosc.uh.edu/scanner(If you want to access the scanner folder)

  1. Click ÒConnectÓ
  2. Enter your username and password and click ÒOKÓ

 

 

  1. A moment later (if you entered your information correctly) a window will pop up with your desired folder (as a drive) and the folder will also be visible on the desktop.

 

 

  1. As you can see I have accessed the scanner folder from the PC network
  2. After you are done, remember to drag the drive to trash Ð to disconnect it.
