Plotting from the PC systems

1.      To plot documents on the HP 1055 CM plotter in room 232, first logon to any workstation. Then open the document you want to plot in the application of your choice. Most folks use MS-PowerPoint or Adobe-Illustrator. Within the application, Open page setup and set the width and height to 48, 36 (or whatever width and height, length) you desire. Remember, the width of the paper is 36, but you can make the length as long as you want, well as long as the roll of the paper is. This formats the document you are working with to the correct size you want the final plot to come out to. (THIS IS NOT THE SIZE OF THE PLOT OUTPUT, FOR THAT READ BELOW)

2.      Then make the changes etc you need to on the file, and choose File-> Print and select the printer as "HP Plotter" for powerpoint and most applications.

3.      Then select "Properties" from the right of the printer name and under paper size select "More sizes" , and under "custom size" select the WIDTH and HEIGHT of the plot you desire, please note: the plotter width is only 35 inches (36 , but 1 inch is unprintable area). So you want something that is wider than 36, choose landscape and input the desired dimensions. Generally 36 x 48 is optimum, select OK and "OK" again and you should be ready to plot. Keep a watch out from the plotter, if you get early indications that the plot is not what you had in mind, press "cancel" immediately to avoid wastage.
