Plotting from the UNIX Systems

Generally it is best (and only feasible) to plot files from the PC adjoining the plotter . But on some occasions, users may need to plot files like seismic sections or log data from Geoframe or FOCUS generated on the UNIX systems. NOTE: THESE FILES HAVE TO BE CGM files to be plotted from the UNIX network (ONLY CGM files WILL WORK!!!)

1. First you need to find out where the application dumped your CGM plot, usually from Geoframe it would be under /software/gf404/hardcopy_files, make sure when you generated the CGM file, you gave a descriptive name or it would be lost in the many files already there.
2. Then run the command "plite" (this application will work only on geossun1 or geossun3 only) which brings up the main LARSON Software PLITE window.
3. Go to File and Select "Open" as described below

4. Then navigate to the appropriate directory and pull up your CGM file. This will load the file but not display it, select the "Display" option to display your file , if you are happy, then select "Plot", change the parameters if you wish and enter, "submit" , WATCH THE PLOTTER , IF YOU NOTICE SOMETHING IS WRONG IMMEDIATELY CANCEL THE PLOT TO AVOID WASTAGE.
